.MARLBOROUGH RACING CLUB. SPRING MEETING. The Spring Meeting of the Marl'borough Racing (Jlub will be held on ithe Riverlands course, Blenheim, on Wednesday and Thursday, October 3rd and 4th next. A literal programme has been provided, the stakes totalling 740 sovs for the two days' races. The principal open events are the Blenheim Handicap, 100 sovs, and Flying Handicap, 60 sovp, on the first day, the Riverlands Handicap, 80 sovs, and Telegraph Handicap, 60 sovs, on the seoond day. The haok division has been also liberally treated, the stakes allotted being 40 sovs - for" each race. There is one trotting event of 20 sovs on each day. Nominations for all raoes close with the secretary, Mr C. J. W. Griffiths, Blenheim, at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 15th. TURF NOTES. (By Zetland). The nominations recen-ed for the Wairarapa Hunt Clufc Meeting will doubtless be considered fairly satisfaptory, although the number of horses engaged in the jumping -events is less than was expected. The back raoes have filled well, and greater interest will fce taken in these than in the resi of the programme. The Taratahi coarse is expeoted to be in fine order for the day. Of the eight, entrants in the Hunters' Ilack Hurdles Utile is known by the general public. King Bay is a fine big gelding by Gold Reef; General is a well known jumper at hunt gatherings, aud has shown to advantage in leaping contests; Tatioo, Black Oil, and Star Gazer are good fencers, and the race should bo an interesting one to witness. The Haok Flat, of six furlongs, promises to be the event of the day. Hoity Toity, Wild Cat and War Dog are the best per formers engaged, but Fati Pati, a -full sister to Palaver, Simplex, by .Eton-Dally, and St. Brandon, by Bonnie Scotland-Rose Fisher, should prove equal to making the tried horses do their best. Only six are engaged in the Taratahi Steeplechase. Merrylegs, Tui, Dick Turpin ;and Sober Robin should stay the distance, and the best conditioned •will probably win. The seven furlongs Hack Handicap has filled with fourteen entries, and of these Lavinia, Hoity Toity, Wild Cat and iSilken Rein are previous winners.

Taleteller, Gipsy Joe, Morrie Zealand, and War Dog are forward in condition, and are sure to receive a fair Bhare of support. For the Ladies' Bracelet Handicap eight have ; hfien nominated. Te Hopi fans put in a lot of track work and may win, while King Bay or Blaok Oil may account for tbe Hunters' Flat Race of two miles.

Mr 'I. Gilpin, the newlj-appointed oaretaker of tbe Taratabi course, will oommence his duties on Satur day next. Mataarl has been sent to Ashhurst, where be will be traired by E. Sullivan.

Mr H. Soton's Merrie England gelding has been named Arabura, while tbe name of Ratu has been given a three-year old gelding by Musketry—Water Lady, in the same ownership.

Hamua has again trade his appearance on tbe Taratabi track. He appears to be perfeotly sound again, but is big in condition at present. Jolly Friar, Silverlene, and Ensign, the Taratahi trained nortea which competed at tbe Grand National Meeting, are again doing good work. The last-named seems to have improved by the trip.
