NEW ZEALAND FLAX.
Reoeived August 29, 10.13 a.tr. MELBOURNE, August 29. Mr Knight, of the Agricultural Department, who receutly visited New Zealand to enquire into the flax industry, reports that the crop is a profitable one, bat he does not think the best use is it in New Zealand. Mr Knight is of opinion that the plant could be improved by crossing the different varieties, and he has arranged for plants and seed to be sent to Victoria.
