The New Zealand Dairy Union, writes our correspondent, will open their creamery at Kopuaranga for the season on September 3rd.
Ploughing operations are being pushed ahead in the Kopuaranga district, writes our correspondent. About 40 aeres more land is being broken up this year.

At the Orchestral S"oiety's conoert, on Tuesday evening, the accompaniments to Miss O'Brien's songs were very tastefully played by Mr Rupert Sutton. MrsEaree played the accompaniments to Mr Eareu's vocal items in an artistic manner.
The Masterton Hospital Truttees, at their meeting yeaterday, decided to bold their meetings in future in the Borough Council Chambers. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs Abraham and Williams for having in the past granted the Trustees the use of their room.
The new judges the Native Land Court are Messrs Walter Rawson, solicitor, of Wellington, Charles F. McCormaok, solicitor, of Auckland, and Robert C. Sim and James N. Brown, Native Land Court Registrars at Wellington and Auckland, respectively.
At tbe supplementary pay night of tbe Workers' Mutual Building Society, last night, over £175 was paid in. Tbe sum of £226 was paid in on Wednesday, August 22nd, and there is consequently over £4Ol now in hand. Of this sura £3OO will be balloted for to-night.
At the Feilding Court, jesterday, before Mr A. D. Thompson, S.M., states a telegram, John Whelan was committed for sentence at the next sitting of the Palmerston North Supreme Court, for seriously assaulting Patrick Ashe, at Awahuri, on August stb. Ashe is still an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital.
The signalman at the> Wellington Heads reported, yesterday, that an open boat containing a man was adrift off the Heads. A tug was sent out from / the Port, but after steaming about for a few hours returned to Port without having seen anything of the boat. The captain of the tug thinks that the boat must have swamped before he got out to sea.—Association.
Search parties were out again yesterday loobina for Mr K. Dagg, who has been missiug since Sunday. The Mayor (Mr J. A. Renall) elsewhere invites all those who have bioyoles or horses to meet at 'Mr R. D. Dagg's residence, Upper Plain, this afternoon, with the objeot of organising a systematic search for the missing man. The Mayor hopes that as many as possible will take part in the search.
A meeting of the Ground Committee of the Masterton Racing Club was held on the racecourse yesterday hfternoon. There were present— Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), 0. H. Smith, W. Piatt, A. \V. Cave, A. J. Welch, D. IVJoLacblan, and J. Cress. The committee found the racing track in good order' it having been very muob improved by the top-dressing, which was done last autumn. Jt was decirled to engage a man to assist tbe custodian for a short period. It was also decided to have the new "plough" gallop ploughed, disced and rolled; also to puichase a new grubber,
A meetiag of the members ot the Garry Owen 1-lockay Club was held in St. Putrick'o Schoolroom last even'.ng. Mr J. Bradbury presided, and there was a largu atteudanoe of members. The question of holding a social was discussed and it was decided to briug the sea&ou to a oloße by a aocial to be held in tbe Fores!ers' Hall on September 26th. Misses M. Stempa aud M. Hourigan were appointed joint Honorary secretaries, and a committee, consisting of Misses V. O'Connell, K. Oanley, M. E. Chapman and Messrs J. O. McKillop, J. Bradbury, P. O'Leary, J. Stempa, C. Gardnor, J. Dunn, G. Thynue, V. Darrocb, R. Hatch and the secretaries, were appointed to arrange the details in connection with the function.

The Hon. Q. Fowlds, Minister for Education, speaking at the opening of a new school, ac Wellington, yesterday, says a telegram, said that it- was impossible to get anything too good in the way of equipment, natural and otherwise, in tbe teaching profession. It was no use having up-to-date buildings unless. There was very great work for him to do in organising the existing machinery, and dovetailing the various portions of the system into one harmonious whole. The measures in operation would, he believed, increase the efficiency of the education system of tbe colony.
