THE LATE MR SEDDON.
PROPOSED NATIONAL MEMORIAL.
A communication was received from the Mayor of Wellington, at the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, last evening, with reference to the proposal to establish a national memorial to the late Mr Seddon. The Council was asked to ex cress its opinion on the two proposals submitted, viz,: establishment of scholarships for the youth of the colony, somewhat on the lines of the Rhodes Scholarships; (2) the establishment of a New Zealand Technical University with free scholarships. The city in which the University is to be built will be decided upon by representatives from every part of the colony. The matter was held over until the Mayor returned to Masterton.
