ANNUAL REPORT.
The following is the eleventh annual report of the Ballance 00-cper-ative Dairy Co., Ltd., which w'll bo submitted to the meeting of shareholders, to be held at Pahiatua, on Mouday, August 27th:— Yo'ir directors have pleasure in .submitting to shareholders their eleventh annual report and balance-sheet, an 3 in congratulating them on the reaalts of the year's operations which may be termed highly satisfactory. As suareholders are mostly aware, we sold the output of one factory, the other being shipped on open meat, and in the result the straightout sale' has realised a better pries than that averaged for the consignments Advances for butter-fat during the season were at lOd per lb for July, August and June; 9%d Septemter, October, April and May; and 9d for the remaining five mouths; averaging rather over 9 l-5d per lb for the season. The surplus of £2,581 your directors propose to distribute to shareholders in dividend at 5 per cent. Your directors during the year were interviewed by a committee fora donation towards the funds for a proposed Technical Sohool at Pahiatua, and now place the matter before shareholders as a matter for consideration,' such on establishment being for the benefit of the whole district. Quantity of butter manufactured shows little. variation from last year; supply ' waß diminished at Mabomako, and Scarborough Creameries; other stations showed an increase, notably Hußanui. During the year the effioienoy of our plant at Ballanca has been improved by the erection of a new freezing chamber, and putting in a new boiler, which latter has effected a considerable saving in the cost of fuel there. The replaced boiler is now being over' hauled, prior to being transferred to the Hukanui Creamery. In January lastjj we bad the misfortune to hive a breakdown at the Eoninl Factory, which caused a few days stoppage there. Your directors take, this occasion to thank suppliers and members of the staff for their co-operation in surmounting suoh a difficulty in the flush of the sea- x son. The quality of butter made has been goo; 1 throughout, that from Ballance Factory attaining ' seoond position in the average grading at Wellington, Konini coming sixth on the list. For the ensuing season, prospects appear very bright, quite abnormal pricess being offered for purchase of uutputs. In accordance with the by-laws, Messrs Eddie and . Daysh retire from the Board, and offer themselves for re-election.
