AUCKLAND v. MANAWATU. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N. f August 15. The Mariawatu hockey representatives defeated the Auckland touring eleven, to day, by three goala to one. The game was played on a very net and muddy ground, and wan not a good exposition. The Auoklaud forwards showed pretty attacking combination, but Manawatu backs were a surer lot in every department of their work. The visitors wore undoubtedly feeling the effects of playing matches every other day. Goals were/soored for Manawatu by D. t'raser (2) and WnlJegrave (1), and for Auckland by Mason. WAIRARAPA v. MANAWATU. The match between the Wairarapa and Manawatu representative teams will be played on the Masterton High School grounds to-dny. The Manawatu team will arrive by the 1 p.m. train\ and the game will commence at 2.30 o'clook. A practice match between the Senior and Junior ladies' representative teams, which will visit Wellington on August 2frth, will be played on Fraser's Paddock this afternoon. The following team will represent the Masterton Y.M.O.A. against Wellington Y.M.O.A. at Lansdowne to-day: MoLean (2), Hughes, Tooby, Carley, Hatch, A. J. Paiton, Anderson, L. Niool, N. Hoof.er, Minett, A. E. Rees. Play will commence at 1.45 p.m.
