Junior rßpreEentatives of Wellington and Wairarapa met at the Athletic Park, on Saturday afternoon, and the metropolitan players seemiugly had a light task in beating the visitors by 25 r-oiuts to 3. The encounter produced rpther Door football. The city men displayed a superiority at hooking in the scrimmagep, but their conduct with the ball when they got it was not exemplary. Thay appeared to score in spite of themselves, more bsaause their opponents ivere weak than that they themselves were good. The northerners were heavier than -the city team, but were not so agile, and lacked staying power, though they did finish with a spasm of energy. Wellington opened with a brisk attack, aud Sievers scored from a scramble after about ten minutes play. Milson missed with the kick, bat made amends soon afterwards by placing a penalty goal. Wellington continued to be aggressive, ana broke through Wairarapa's defence a oouple of times before tLe spell closed. Manning scored near the poHts from a passing rush, but Thomas'attempt at goal failed. Man ning then got another try, which Wilson improved. Pairly early in the second half a try by Sellars brought Wellington's score to 17, and a similar feat by Wilson took it to 20. Wairarapa now rallied a little, and were rewarded with a score, a penalty goal by Land. A few minutes later Sellarß touched down between the Wairarapa posts, and Teileon kicked a goal. Wfiiraxapa revived for a final effort, but did not increase tbeir score. Mr Conder was reteree.
