The Select Committee of the House of Lords appointed to inquire into the question of treating British and Foreign Life Insurance Companies as far as possible on an equality, lest reprisals be taken by foreign Governments, reports against the suggestion to compel foreign companies to deposit funds as security to British policyholders and recommends making the deposit imposed on any new company since 1870 not withdrawable. The Commission further reoommends that the Board of Trade be furnished with fall accounts of the business of companies and the market value of the securities held, and in the case of a foreign company the, appointment of British trustees.
