It is reported that some diamonds which were found on an island were shown to Mr William Griffith, late manager of the de Beers mine, by a sea-faring friend, who subsequently died. Before death the man gave Mr Griffith full particulars as to the location of the treasure island. Many influential personages are interesting themselves in the project, no fewer than twenty peers and eight judges being ataong the shareholders. ' A STEAMER CHARTERED. Received Angust 12, 4.35 p.m. LONDON, August 11. A London syndicate has chartered the steamer Meame to prooeed to an unnamed island off the African ooast in searoh of the diamonds.
