THE NEW MINISTRY.

The Telegraph regards Sir Joseph Ward one of the! ablest men who hasever held the Premiership. NAPIER, August 7. At a Temperance meeting, at whioh Rev. P. W. Isitt was present,. a resolution was parried expressing satisfaction at the constitution of the Cabinet. The Temperance i'.si'jy would, it was thought, have nn reason to fear that any legislation would be introduced by such a Cabinet interfering wich the rights of the people to deal with the liquor traffio as they thought fit. A CONGRATULATORY CABLEGRAM. WELLINGTON, August 7."™' The Hon. the Premier, to-dny, received the following cable nißM»age from the Prime Minister of the Australian Commonwealth: —• "Hearty congratulations to your Ministry and yourself. Beet wishes for a long and fruitful tenure. May tue colony and Commonwealth always work cordially together with deepening amity.. -A. DEAKIN." To this Sir Joseph Ward sent the following reply:—"Sincere thanks. Ihe hones for amicable relations between the Commonwealth and Nevr Zealand are mo9C heartily reciprocated.—J. G. WARD."
