THE DYNAMITE OUTRAGE AT BUNNYTHORPE.
SENSATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. By Telegraph—Press'Assooiation. PALMERSTON N., July 27. A sensational development in the reoent dynamite outrage at Messrs J. Nathan and Co.'a dried milk factory, at Bunnythorpe, took place last night, when a middle-aged man, named John Jarvis Gillies, was arrested on a charge of being the perpetrator. The arrest was made soon after 9 o'clock, the accused being then at his house, at Eunnythorpe, only a quarter of a mile from the dried milk factory. Aouused is a widower, and has relatives living at Bunnythorpe. Hg is the proprietor of a dairy factory in the township, and at one time had charge of the Dairy Uniou's creamery there. He is a well-known and highly-respected resident, and has lived there for many years. The arrest created quite'a sensation among the residents of the locality. tie manufactured butter for export, and had been a very successful exhibitor in butter classes at the Palmerstou North Winter Shows. Aicused was charged, at the Police Court, this morning, with having oaused the explosion at the faotory, whpreby £250 worth of machinery was destroyed, and was remanded, on the application of the Polioe, for eight days. Despite the strenuous opposition of the Polioe, who alleged that the course of justice would be seriously hampered, bail was allowed, himself in £2OO and two approved sureties of £2OO each.
