MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
. » ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of the Maeterton A. and P. Association was held, yesterday afternoon, in the Foresters' Hall. Mr K. Gray Dresided, and there were about 40 members present. In moving the adopfiun of 'he annual report and balance sheet, which have already been published, the Chairman commented on the general progress of the Society. The members had only to compare the entries received at last show with those received in 1900, to note tho progress of the Society. In six years the number of entries received had increased by over 1,000. During that time the district had advanced. The prices for oaricultural products had incrpased and when that was the state of affairs the Association should bo in a sound poditioo. Last year's show had been a record one. The receipts bad been a record, also, but the expenditure had been heavy so that the profits for the year. £239 Os 9d, were not as good as last year, although they must be considered good. Duriug the year many improvements had been carried out on the grounds. A new grandstand bad been erected. Ihe building had been adversely criti cised. The Committee would keep the matter in view, and take steps to improve the view from the stand. The turnip competitions, which had been carried out during the year, had not altogether been a success, chiefly owing to the bad season, and the lateness in commencing the competition. Very successful ex periments in practical farming had been carried out during the year in conjunction with the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society, and these had been found to be very useful. The demand for implement space was very great last show, and the Committee had found that it could not supply the demand. The Committee would have to take into serious consideration the question of enlarging the ground. There had also been a great demand for covered-in space, and the Committee would, also, have to keep that quostion in view. He had to thank the various stewaids for their work at last ! show, and the railway officials for | tho manner in which they had reI ceived and despatched show stock.
Mr D. Guild seconded the motion.
Mr W, Perry, a member of the luncheon Oomcuittee, said that last year the loss oa the luncheons had been about £22. In other years there had been a slight profit.
