AUCTION SALES OF MEAT.
For the past few months auctiou sales of meat have been held in many towns of the colony, and the patronage of the public has been so satisfactory that the system is being extended generally. At Palmerston North, Pahiatua and Wellington, these auction sales are held regularly, and in each plaoe are in great favour with buyers, who attend the weekly auotions in large numbers to compete for the good value offered* Masterton is now falling into line in this respeot, ana the new firm, Messrs Staples and 00,, have arranged for Saturday sales of prime joints being held at Mr J. E. Niools auction mart. Ihe first is advertised to be held to-morrow, when a quantity of the best brtef and mutton will be sold to the highest fjidder. The sales will be conducted iu the same manner as those in Wellington and elsewhere, where ready money gains,exceptionally good value in the leading household commodity. A fact worthy of special mention is that relative to the firms slaughtering being done at' the Masterton Abattoir.
