NEW PLYMOUTH, July 25,

it is understood that over forty thousand shares have been applied for in the Taranaki Petroleum Company. Ten thousand shares were alloted to this province, and 12,124 applications are already in. The share list Is not yet closed.

Active boring operations in No. 2 bore is being oommenoed, also preparations for clearing out one of the old abandoned bores. The Directors confident that they will be able very shortly to prove the extent and richness of the oilfield.
