COMMERCIAL.
WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd. report:—We offered on Friday 70 bales of wool, 2,000 skim?, 250 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. The wool offered consisted chiefly of crutchings, but the deman for this class of wool has weakened, and prices fell %d to one penny for all grades. We quote:— Coarse crossbred to inferior and logstaiued, B>£d to 9d; pieces and bellies, to 7d; crutohinisP, superior, 7>£d to 8d; good, 6>£d to seedy and inferior, to Sains:— There was good competition and fall prices were bid. We quoteMerinos, 9d to fine oros&breds 9d to ooarse, 9d to dead skins 8d to B%d; Lamb skins to short wools to 9d; woolly skins green, 7s 6d to 9s Id; lamb pelts 3s to 4s 3d. Tallow: —Casks 22a, tins. 17s 3d, sacks 13s 9d. Horsehair:—ls 6d to la 8d per lb. Horns:—7s to 16s per 100. Hides:—Good demand at steady prices. We quote—hides to 5%d per lb.; oow bides to 5%d ; out and slippy hides, 4d to sd; calfskins, 5d to 6}£d.
The next sale will be held on the 3rd of August, 1906.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. report:—We held our usual wool, skin and hide sale on Friday afternoon. We offered a good uatalogue to a good attendance of buyers and we report as under: —Wool—Consisted mostly'of orutohlngs, which showed a drop of to }£d an compared wtih last sale rates. We quote good olean crutchings to ad; inferior, 6>£d to 7d, orossbred, medium 9d to lOd; inferior, 8d to B%d. Skins—All sorts were easier by %d per lb. and we quote—Medium full wool orossbred, 9%d to 'orossbred shorts, B%d to 9%d; lambs. B%d to 9%d; green, €s lOd to 8s 4d.; merino, 9%d; hoggets 9%d; orossbred broken, B}£d to 93; pelts, 8d to B>£d per lb. Hides—Were* easier by J£d and we quote—Sound ox 5%d: medium ox, s}£d to 5%d; sound cow, s&d: light, 5d to 5%d, oalf, 6d to 6^2d; horse hides 9s to9s9d. Tallow—in tins, 17s per cwt.
The Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. report: —We offered a fair sized catalogue of wool, skins, hides, tallow, and hair. With the exception of crutohings which were %d to Id lower everything else sold at about level •of last sales. We quote:— Wool: Inferior coarse crossbred 9d to lOd,good, clean crntchings l%d to seedy 5%d to 7J£d, looks and pieces 4%d to 7d. Sheepskins: Crossbred, clean and light conditioned 9%d to lU>£d, coarse crossbred 9%d to 9%d, lambskins B%d to 10^d t broken and inferior to Bd, dead to B%d, green skins from 6s 6d to 9s, lambs 5s 6d to 6s 6d. Tallow: In tins 17s 3d to 18s 6d per cwt. Hides: Sound ox and cow 5%6 to 5%d, slippy and damaged 4d to sd, oalf, sound to 6%d, cot and damaged 4d to sd. Horsehair: Is to Is lOd per lb.
