Hull, E. I. Maun sell, A. C. Scrimgoour, T. Wagg, W. G. Beard, J. Pay!;on, W. IT. Hosking, and A. C. Major; Aulitor, G. W. Sellar; Committee, Messrs T. W. Barnes, 11. Madehy, A. E. Miles, Mark Wi|ton, A. Taplin, A. Snodgra-is, E. .Veloh, E. Taplin, .L. E. Rich■irds, T. Moore, T. W. Miller, T Hoar, J. J. Mead, G. Hyde, 0. Oarr, L. H. Rayner, A. Elk ins, W. Piatt, J. Maurssll, A. O. Levien, C. Sexton, 0. H, Anderson, aud W. Mather; Treasurer, Mr G. Hyde; Secretary, Mr J. Cairns. The annual show of th 9 Wairarapn Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association was opened, yesterday, in the Drill Hall. Tie exhioits are of a good class, and this manes the show an interesting one frum a fancier's point of view. The judging was not commenced until late in the day owing to some difficulty being experienced in penning the birds. This whs due to the fact that a number of pens, which were to have come from Napier, did not arrive. However, the judging wad completed in good time, and the decisions appeared to meet with the exhibitors' approval. Competition was keenest in the Wyandottoa. In this claßß some excellent birds were shown, and it would be particularly hard to surpass the quality of the Golden and Silver Wyandotte". The Brahmas were rather coarse in bone and heavy in feather. The Plymouth liocks were the besft class thai has teen a seen in a Masterton Show. The North Island Championship for barred Plymoatfi Rooks, male or female, was won by Mr W. E. Laney, of Petone, with a /ion. There were ten other competitors. The Orpingtons •were a very creditable lot, and the winners would take a lut of beating at any show, 'lhe Leghorns were well represented in numbers and the quality was fair. Mr E. Yates, of Masterton, was a successful exhibitor in White Leghorns, and Mr E. O. Trasa in Brown Leghorns. The Bamourga wore poorly represented. The dressed poultry e>hi»wn was very favourably commented upon. The prize ?n this class was secured by Mr H. Madeley. Although Mrs Conolly had the heaviest d zen of eggs exhibited, she was disqualified owing to the egga having a double yolk. The special prizes were won as fol-low:—-Dorkings, Mr C. Anderson: Langshans, Mr H. Madeley, 42 points; Orpingtons, Mr H. E. Leighton, 37 points; Wyandottes, Mr W. A. Boyes, 28 points, Mr J. Mead being second with 26 points; Minorcas, Mr A. Hendry, 15 points; Leghorns, Mr E. G. Trass, 22 points; CJame, Mr R. E. Graham; Hamburgs, Mr J. Billiugton; Hantaras, Mr H. Madeley; Ducks, Mr 11. E. Meyriak; best trio of fowls for 1 reeding purposes, Mr H. Madeley; pigoono, Mr J. M. Nicholls, 51 points; J. W. Holland, seoonr], 40 points. The pigeonu wore an improvement on last year's exhibits, both ii quantity and quality. Thore were about eighteen rtoro birds shown this year. In filuo Chequer Dragoons there were some typical birds shown, but the Ijluo Dragoons showed signs of age, some of them being heavy and ooarse. The Working .homers were a good class throughout, and the bird shown by Messrs Wad ham and Andrews was undoubtedly a fine specimen. The .judge's opinion of this bird was that it would take considerable beating at any show. Mr R. E. Graham's Blondinette was n very good bird. The Fantails showed a considerable falling off on labt. year's exhibit, both in quantity and quality. They were not by any means up to the fltairdard of last year's birds, which were a fine lot. The Magpies wore fair birds, hut they were badly shown, the exhibitors in many cases not having properly prepared the birds for the show. In conversation with an Age reporter, the judge, Mr J. F. Fitzgerald, remarked that the Association could greatly improve their show in pigeons by offering larger prizes and more special prizes He cited the success of the Wellington show as an example of this. There was no reason why thw Masterton show should not go ahead, as the town occupied a ceutral position, and was near Wellington, With increased prizes a great many exhibitors would be induced to oorae from Wellington. Mr J. Cairns, the secretary, was courteous and obliging, and he was ably assisted in bis duties by an energetio committee.
