MASTERTON POULTRY SHOW.
The annual show of tbo Wairarapa Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association will be opened in the Drill Hall to-day. Mr Cairns, the secretary, and an energetic commiftee have all arrangements complete, and the ahow promises to be the most successful yet held by the Association. A tioulariy Rood quality of birds will be' shown The exhibitors include some of the test known breeders in the North Island. Among the exhibitors will be Messrs W. A. Sowman (Blenheim), W. A. Boyos, M. Kelliher (Eketanuna), J W. Holland, B. Bell (Wellington), H. E. Leigbton (Lower Huttl, J. M. Nioholls, John Standeu, R. J. Chapman, E. Eagle, H. Madeley, E. W. Barnes, J. Billington, B. Graham, G. Watson, ;jun., E Yates, A. Snodgrasa, and J. J. Mead, Mrs E. Boss •Bud Mrs Playle. Exhibits are also to ba brought down from Palmertson North, Wanganai and Peilding. The competition for the North Island championship in Plymouth Bocks (barred) is likely to be keen. Mr C. Price, of Napier, will judge the poultry, and Mr J. F. Fitzgerald the pigeons and canaries. An innovation at the show will bo the ""tag" system of identifying birds. The exhibitor is supplied with a tag, giving his catalogue number, which is tied on the bird's leg and a number to correspond is affixed to the pen. It is proposed to promote a weight-guessing competition in •the ball, a goose, a rooster, a bantam and a pigeon being set aside lor the purpose.
