*. —. The third annual aooial of the Star Crioket Club was held last night in the Foresters' Hall, and was a decided success. The committee aie to be congratulated on the result obtained.Special mention must be made of tbe services rendered by Mesdames Suttou, Morgan, Piatt, Giddings, Chapman and Asbton, and Misses Infield, Welch, Morgan, Holloway, Reside and Peterson. The secretaries, Messrs Darrocb nnd Sl.ewar*d, bad all the arrangements complete. Messrs Robertson, Egan, Bradbury and Chapman, who acted as M's.O. are to be commended for the ablu manner in which they performed their duties. During the evening tbe President of tbe club, Mr 0. A. Pownall, presented the following trophies, won last season :~ Bat, donated by Mv J. L. Murray, Vice-President of tbe club, for best batting average, won by Mr Esson; bat donated by Mr J. Lomas for best all-round orioketer iu the olub last season, won by Mr S. R. Edwards. A crioket ball was also presented to Mr J. McLean for best bowling average during last season in the "B" team. After the trophies had been presented a flrst-olaessuppar supplied by tbe Ladies' Committee, was partaken of, and was much appreciated.
