AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

THE LAND SCANDAL. SYDNEY, June 28. Hon. W. P. CrioK, representing Blayney in the Legislative Assembly, spoke in the Legislative Assembly during the debate on the vote of censure ou the Government moved by Mr J. S. McGowou. His speech was at times dramatic, and he made an unseemly attaok on Mr Justice Owen, who inquired into the recent land scandals. He said that insinuations had been made against the Administration, but on his oath he could say that here was nothing against it. Referring to his own position, he said his hands were tied, owing to the charges of malfeasance pending against him, but, innocent or guilty, no jury in New South Wales would convict him. He therefore'suggested that the Government should withdraw the criminal charge, and fight the matter out on the floor of the House.
