Meßsrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd , report on their Maa'erton stock sale as follows:—At our fortnightly sale yesterday we again had a heavy yarding of sheep for this time -of the year, upwards of 5,000 coming forward. Bayers from a distance were prominent and business at auction brisk, several linos selling considerably ia excess of owners ■anticipations. The few lots passed in were subsequently disposed of, in most cases at original reserves and me have to report a total clearance ■-with one solitary exception. The ••entry of cattle was small and demand limited All lots, however, changai bands excepting a couple •of dairy cows and pen of oows and -calves. Prices realised are as follows:—Sheep: Pat wethers 18s 5d to 18s Bd, fat owes 15s 6d Jo 16s 6d, forward wethers 16s to 17a Id, store wethers 15s to 15s 9d, empty ewea 12s 10d to 14s 7d, breeding ewes 12s 3.1 to 16s, and up to 17a 6d, for a line of breeding ewes 6a 8d to Bs, ' good lambs 10s to 12s 2d, others 6s 3d to 8a 6d, fat and forward cows £1 sb, store cows £2 to £2 ss, fat cows £5, fat bullocks (light) £7 os, yearling steers 35a. BIGU COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, 9tb June:-™ "The mutton market, although quiet, has advanced, and the demand is expected to increase. The average price for light weights. Canterbury brands, is 3%d per lb. and heavy weights are quoted at Best quality Nurth Island mutton finds sale at 3%d, and second class at3%d per lb. There is a good demand for all iamb. Large supplies are coming forward. Toere are, however, complaints of the quality of New Zealand lamb this season. The average price for Canterbury brand is 4%d per lb, and other than Canterbury 4 per lb. The beef market is steady, and tnere is a better demand at 3%d per lb for hindquarters and 2%d per lb for forequarters. The butter market is firm, owing to reduced supplies. Choicest New Zealaud brands are quoted at 102s, Danish Ills, and Siberian 96s per owt. There is a good demand for cheese, especially for white, at 66s perewt. Coloured is quoted at 64s per cwt. '
