AUSTRALIANS AND THE FISCAL
PROBLEM.

Mr Chapman, the Commonwealth Postmaster-General, assured a representative of the Pall Mall Gazette that the people of the Commonwealth were "whole hoggers." He added that Labour would materially assist Mr Chamberlain to win ultimately. He believed there was ample room for the Labour party in Australian politics.

Mr Davies, Liberal, has been returned unopposed for the Eiton division of Carnarvonshire, replacing Mr J. Bryn Roberts, who has been, appointed a County Court Judge.

Dr. Clifford, addressing a Free Church demonstration on Wimbledon Common, declared that Clause 4 of the Educational Bill must be deleted; otherwise the Liberal Government would have to send passive resistors to gaol for refusing-, to pay towards the propagation of Romanism.
