THE DEFENCE OF PORT ARTHUR.
GENERAL STOESSEL SENTENCED TO DuiATH. Received May 26, 12.34 a.m. TOKIO, May 25. Owing to the report that a courtmartial had sentenced General Stoessel to death for aowardice, General Nogi, in an interview at Tokio, declared that General Stoessel did everything possible to defend Port Arthur, especially sinoe he lacked the whole-hearted and loyal co-operation of all his offioers and mOn.
