Oaselberg, G. C. Summerel!, J. Elliott, E. H. Waddington, C. Graham, W. B. Chenuells, and J. C. Ewiugton. Apologies for absence were read from Messrs D. Donald, F. W. Carey, B. J. Dolau, R. T. Holmes, O. E. Daniell, E. E. Chamberliiin, and J. B. Keith.

The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £1 Is 3d. It was decided to write to the Acting Postmaster-General asking that the matter of telephone communication between Wellington and Masterton be pushed on with as much vigour as possible. Mr Cheuuells $f mentioned that country settlers were oomphuniua that when they came to Masterton to attend churoh services on a Sunday evening they were unable to get their mail from the private boxflH at the Post Office, although he believed there was a man on the premises at the time. He moved that the postmaster be communicated with and asked that the private boy lobby be kept open until 9 p.m. on Sundays. The motion was carried. Mr Ewiugton brought up the ques tion of establishing a brick oompany in Masterton, and referred to the large number of bricks that were sent tu Masterton. He thought the Chamber should use their best endeavours to have a company floated. Mr Waddington explained that the matter had bean before the Chamber on previous occasions, but had not been entertained, as it had been found that there was not a sufficient quantity of suitable clay obtainable in the vicinity of Masterton for the purpose of brick-making. The Chairman read a private letter from a friend in Blenheim inquiring as to the prospects of floating a briok company in the town, and also as to the suitability of the clay obtainable. It was generally admitted that there was an opening for such a company in the town if suitable clay could be obtained, and flually it was decided to aßk'Mr Ewiugton to make enquiries with regard to obtaining an expert for the purpose of prospeoting the soil around Masterton, and report to the Council at their next meeting. Mr O. Cooper was elected a member of the Chamber.

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of members was then held. The questions dealt with were those referring to extra yarding accommodation, more trucks and better lighting at the Masterton Railway Station. It was decided to bring the matters under the notice of the Acting Minister of Railways.
