TO-DAY'S MATCHES. The following are tbe fixtures for to-day:— SENIORS. Carterton v. Albion, at Carterton. Referee, Mr A. B. Charters. Red S-tar v. Mastertou, at Masterton. Referee, Mr B. MoKenize*. JUNIORS. Masterton v. Rea Star, at Masterton. Referee, Mr F. O'Connor. Greytown v. Maryborough, at Greytown. Referee, Mr J. Niohol. RED STAR I. v. MASTERTON I. It is probably many years since so much interest has been evinced in a match in Masterton as in the game that is to take place on tha Showgrounds, to-day, between the Masterton aud Red Star seniors. The Brat match played between the Clubs was on June 15th, 1889, aud the game resulted in a win for Masterton by 4 points to nil. The Red Star team on that day included :—D'Aroy, Thompson, Pelling, Hawke, Patterson (backs), Freetb; Hoar, Igguldon, McKenzie, O. Percy, W. Thomas, W. Welch, Watson, Wileone. The Masterton Club included in those days such well-known players as C. Perry, J. Perry, Whatman, Day, C. Bannister, Fin Hill, J. Bannister, J. Perry. G. Welch, R. S. Hirschberg, J. Wallace, Nini, J. Kifcblewhite, O. Holmwood, E. Eton. J. Pony aud J. Bannister scored tries for Masterton, C. Perry converting the former's try. The final match between the Red Star aud Masterton Clubs prior to their amalgamation was played on June 13th, 18S6. The teams were selected as follow:—Red Star: D'Aroy, Renall, H. Wrigley, R. Thompson, W. Thompson, Hansen, T. Wrigley, Jeffries, Cochrane, Percy, Kummer, Hudson, Iggulden, MoKillop, Morris. Mastertou: Broad, T. Thompson, McGovern, Fleming, G. Johnston, Hosking, R. Gray, Kemble. Holyoake, Em•mett, W. Day, F. Gray, Welch, Fowler, Watson. The game was keenly contested, and at half-time •there was no score. Just on the call of time, after flue play on the part of Hudson, MoKillop, Jeffries, W. Thompson and Cochrane, Morris scored in the corner. II Wrigley, with a magnificent kick, converted ttbe try. The Stara wtre superior in the backs. In tbe sorum Masterton bad tbe advantage, getting the ball •almost every time. Tbe Stars bad tb* beat of tb<* play in the loose,
During the match Hansen bad a small bone in his right arm broken, while 0. Percy had to retire in the aooond spell, owing to his having reeeived a severe kick on the sinews of bis leg.
