THE CRICKET CRISIS EXPLAINED.

Beaders have doubtless been noting with more or less interest the lengthy reports that have been appearing in the press about the socalled crisis in the cricket world. The trouble is so involved that oiie is glad to fli)d the position clearly explained by .Mr L. A. Adarason, in the current issue of "Life." Mr Adamson has just resigned the dual

position of Chairman of the Victorian Cricket Association and of tbe Australian board of Control, and has, therefore, watched the negotiations with close attention. Mr Adamson gives "Life" a very clear, concise statement, at the conclusion of which he says: "The outcome of tbe dispute will most likely be a short, sharp fight and, it is hoped, an amicable compromise; if both sides refrain from unnecessary bitterness, the trouble will probably result iu renewed interest aud, on the whole, be for the good of cricket, both local and interstate—especially local, if it leads to the establishment of a proper district scheme iu Victoria." Other articles are: "Day aud Night ou Broadway," by Onarles Nuttall, the well-known Australian artist; a pic turesque description of some richly historic part of India, by Dr. Fitchett, and a fine acoount of the colonisation of Fiji, by a man who lived in the islands for many years. In addition to the considerable amount of locally written matter, there is the usual full review of the best of the world's current literature—books, magazines, and art journals.
