NEWMAN.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent). NEWMAN, Friday. There has'been a great change in the weather since I last wrote. Last Friday the fine weather bet in, and wtf have had warm days ever since—something unusual in this district at the present time of the year. The milk supply at our local creamery is now falling off rapidly, i thibk the end of the month will finish us up for this season. The suppliers are all looking forward to receiving a big bonus from, the New Zenland Dairy Union this season, as 1 understand they have sold all their produce at a really good figure. All I can say is. "Uh let it be soon!" The tests for the past week are:—Lowest test, 4.6; highest, 5 5. Influenza has been very prevalent around this district latflly. The Newman Hali Committee held a very successful dance last Friday evening. The proceeds are to go towards repairing the hall. The ladies provided refreshments, and did everything in their power to make the function a success. Mr Tom Keam acted as M.C. It is ihe intention of the committee to hold dances every fortnight, and 1 understand they are trying to arrange with Mr U Ogdon, of Hamua, to provide the music. Mr Ogdon is well and favourably known in these parts, and I am sure if he consents to supply the mpsio everyone will bo pleased. A farewell cocial is to be tendered Mias Avison who is retiring from school teaching at Newman, on Friday evening. A presentation, 1 understand, is to take place during the evening. The young lady is also to receive a valuable present subscribed to by the soholars and head teacher. Inhere is one thing I should like to draw the attention of our County Council fc°i kh®' * 8 stock continuously grazing on a certain County road much to the annoyance of the settlers who own land along the same road.
