TWO WOMEN RUN DOWN BY AN ELECTRIC CAR. ONE OF THE VICIIMS NOT EXPECTED TO RECOVER. WELLINGTON, May 17. Late last night an electrio tram running on the Kent Terrace track ran oown a couple uf women, who suddenly emerged from the reserve in that looality, and stepped right between the rails. The weather was stormy at the time, and the night very oark. On the motorman examining the women he found one conscious, and in a few minutes she recovered enough to stand. She seemed anxious to get away, but in answer to questions gave a name and address which afterwards proved to be false. The other woman was in a bad plight, and was removed to the hospital, suffering troin a fraotured skull. She remained in the institution all last night and to-day without being identified, but late this evening was identified by Alfred Chynoweth as his wife, Catherine, aged 36 years. She is still unconscious, and is not likely to recover. A broken whisky bottle was found at the spot where the accident occurred. Two men who were with the women ran away.
