THE ROYAL VISIT TO INDIA.
LONDON, May 14. Following the example of King Edward (then Prince of Wales) on bis return from India in 1867, tbe Prinoe of Wales expressed a desire that a thanksgiving service shoal's be held at Westminster Abbey, to mark bis safe return. The service was held yesterday. Among those present .were King Edward, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and all the members of the Royal Family in London; Lord Tweedmonth, First Lord of the Admiralty; and many other prominent persons. There were 250 bluejackets from the warshipsjßenown (in which the voyage to and from India was made) and Terrible, ani drafts of marine infantry. The Dean of Westminster (Dr. J. A. Robiason), in his sermon, dwelt upon IndiaV appreciation of her great Emperor's benefioient rule and his personal care for her well fare.
