WELLINGION WOOL AND SKIN SALES. Messrs Levin and Co., Limited, report:—We ottered at Wellington, on Friday, 30 bales wool, 2,000 skins, 200 hideß, and a quantity of tailow and horsehair. Wool was keenly competed for and the advance in London was reflected at the sales here;orntchings are now ooming forward and are meeting with strong demand at advancing' prioes. We quote:— Coarse crossbred, 9J£d to inferior , and log-stained, B%A to 9Vd; pieces ana bellies, 7dto7%d; locks, 3d to sd; good lambs wool, lOd to lid, medium 9d to, 9%d, seedy 6>£d to B%d; orutobings, extra superior, up to 9d; cratohings, good, 7dtoßd; crutoliidgs, seedy and inferior, s}£d to 6%d. Skins—There is no change to record. We quote:—Merinos, 9d to fine crossbred*, 9d to lOd; coarse, 9d to 9%d; dead skins, 8d to %%\ sbort wools, to woolly skins, green, 6s 6d to 7s 2d; woolly, lamb skins, green, 5s 5d to 6s 4d; lambs pelts, 3s to 3s lOd. TallowCasks 21s 3d, tins 18s. sacks 13s 9d. Horsehair—ls 6d to 2s per lb. Horns —7s to 18s per 100. Hides have fallen further in Australia, and there are unfavourable reports of the future. Prices here have tallen further. We now quote:— Ox hides, 5d tosd>»id.per lb; oow bides, 5d to Der lb; cut and slippy bides, 3d to 4)£d per lb; calfskins, 5d to The next sale will be held on 25h May, 1906. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows:—At our sale on Friday, at Wellington, we offered a large quantity of skins, 20 bales of wool, and a fair quantity of bides, tallow and horsehair. Prices for sheepskins and wool were firm nt a slight advance on last sales rates. We have to record a further drop in hides in sympathy with decline in Australian markets.. We quote:— Wool—Half-bred medium quality to lid, coarse crossbred stragglers a,J£d to 9%d. crutohings from picees from 4}j>d to B?4d. Sheepskins—Sound pelted crnssbreds, balf-woolled 9J£d to lOd; short B%A to half-bred and merino 9d to broken and dead 7d to B%d, green skins from 5s to 6s 10d, lambs woolly from 5s to 5s 7d. Hides—No prime lots forward for this sale. For sloppy ox and cow we obtained from 4%d to 5%d, cut and slippy to 4d. Tallow—ln tins 15s to 18s; in casks 20s to 22s per owt.
Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, report having held their usual fortnightly sale of wool, skins and hides, on Friday afternoon. Wool showed an advance of per lb on previon" sale rates, consequent upon the rise in the London market. They quotes— Crossbred fleece, 9%d to lOd: lambs wool, to 9%d; dead wool, up to 9}£d; orntobings, to 7J^d; locks and first pieces 4)£d to Skins—There was no fluctuation as compared with last sale prioes. Quotations are— Good crosabrede, to 9%d; crossbred, half wools. lambs, 9d to 9%d; damaged and inferior, 7%d to hoggets B>£d to 9d; green butchers' skins (no really prime lines offering) 6s 5d to 6s 9d; pelts, Inferior, Is lid to2s4d. Hides—ln sympathy with the weakening of the market, in Melbourne and Sydney, hides showed a drop of to %d per lb. Quotatons are—Godd ox, 5%a to s}£d; ligbt ox, 1% to sd; good cow, 5% to 5%; light cow, i}o to 4%; oalf, to 5%d; horse hides, 3s. Horse hair, Is Id to Is 5d per lb. Tallow, in tins. 13s Gd to 15s Gd.
LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, have received the following cable from their London office, dated 10th instant:— The sales continue firm with upward tendenoy. The advance is chiefly in secured Merino wools. LONDON MARKETS. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, have received the following cables from their London . House, under date of the 10th intant:—Frozen meat—Market weak i and dull owing to unfavourable weather. Butter—The Oopen hagen official quotation is. unchanged. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending the sth instant amounted to 79,000 o*?t., as oompared with 81,000 for the corresponding period or the previous year. * Colonial butter remains steady, but French is 4s to 6s per owt lower. WOOL MARKET. Received May 14, 8.16 a.m. LONDON, May 13. Prices are well maintained, and ««e possibly a little dearer. The
