FIRE IN WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, May 3.

A fire occurred in the Mercantile Exohange, Manners Street, this morning, by which a four-roomed house, occupied by Mr Sydney Beatty, photographer, and the contents were badly damaged. The contents were insured for £175 in the State Fire Insurance Office. The building was insured for £3,000 in the South British. The other tenants in the building who suffered damage were the International Correspondence Sohools office, partly damaged by water, insurance £I,OOO in the Alliance and South Paoiflo offices; Mortgage Discount Office, slightly damaged by water, insurance in the Standard Office. The origin of the fire is unknown.
