MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual meeting of the Council was held on Saturday, 28th April. There were present—Crs H. J. Dagg (chairman), 0. C. Jacuson, and K W. H. Kutnmer.

The Chief Engineer of Roads forwarded a proposal apportioning the cost of maintaining the suspension bridge ove. the Ruamahanga River, at Mount Bruce Rond. The Clerk, instructed by the Chairman, had writtten to the Engineer pointing out the relative interests of the lcoal authorities benefitted by the bridge, bat up to the date of the meeting no further communication had been received from the Engineer on the aubject. Demands for contributions for 1906-7 were received' from the Charitable Aid Board, and the District Hospital Board, the latter being considerably increased this year owing to the large proposed expenditure on infeotious diseases houpitals. Mr Joseph Dawson wrote with reference to the cost of the bridge on the Waugaebu Road, mentioning several items, such aa earth woik at the approaches, which should not be charged in the nelt cost of the bridge.

A letter was received from the Commissioner intimating that the Land Board had consented to thirds beiug used for metalling on Kaiparorißoad.

The Secretary of the Mauriceville Lime Company forwarded a cheque for £313 10a, bding final payment on account of limestoue. The Clerk was instructed to inform T. and P'. Petersen to remove willows blocking the creek at the new bridge on Mutant .Bruce Road West.

Cr Kummer was authorised to deal with log holes on the side of the main road, near Carroll's Stream, the place having been found to be dangerous to travelling stock. It was decided to refer to Cr Cooper the roadman's request for an addition to bis whare on the Ihuraua Valley Road, so as to accommodate his family. Nlr S. Neilaen'a offer to break boulders at the Mangamahoe Kailway Station, at 3s 6d per cubio yard, was accepted. Accounts amounting to £165 17a 3d were passed for payment.
