MASTEJRTON WOOL, SKIN, AND HIDE SALE.S The Now Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Agenoy Company report as follows on their Master ton wool, skin and hide sale:—We offered, today, 40 bales wool, 2,500 sheepskins, 110 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding for wool and skins was very keen and high prices were obtained, but the selection of bides offered was a poor and badly-saved lot. Some crutohings were catalogued, which realised up to 7J£d per lb. We quote—Wool: Medium crossbred fleece 9>£d to clotted and inferior B>£d to lambs wool 9d to lOd, orutohings 6d to 1%&, pieces and heilies 7d to 7%d, looks 4d to 4%d, Skins: Advanced on last sale prices, good orossbreds 9d to dead skins 7d to B>gd, shore wools 9d .to 9>£d, lamb skins 9d to 9%d, pelts, bare, 2s 5d eaob, woolly skins, green, 6s Id. Hides: Medium ox 20s to 235, inferior ox 16s t6 19a, medium cow 17s to 225, inferior 10s to 17s, calf skins 2s to 6s. Tallow: In tins 17s 3d owt, casks 18s per owt. Horsehair, Is 9d per lb. Cow tails B}4d. The next sale is fixed for June 6th, 1906.
The W.F.C.A., in conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Co., held their monthly wool, skin and hide sale yesterday. A very good catalogue of all lines came forward for sale. Bidding was spirited, there being a good attendance of buyers. We offered 1,800 skins, 25 bales of wool and 150 hides. Prioea were well maintained, and were as under: —Medium crossbred fleece wool from to 9%d, lambs wool realised to 9}£d, one line fleece 10d* dead wool 9%d, looks and pieces from to 6%d, crutohinga from to skins (green) 4s lOd to 5a lOd, orossbreds 8d to 9%d, pelts from 1« 9d to 4s. Hides were easier and showed a downward tendency. Ox and stag hides 18s 9d to 26s 6d, cow from 15s 6d to 225, yearlings 5s lid to 6a 6d, calfskins from la 3d to 3s 4d. We must again remind farmers to be careful in saving their hides. MASTERTON STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., report at their stock sale yesterday a fair yarding for the season of the year, and a better class of stock offering. We have to report a better tone prevailing throughout the sale, nearly all lines selling under the hammer, and any lots passed finding purchasers afterwards, lambs particularly making improved rates. We had a fair yarding of cattle, for which bidding wis dull, but vendors realising " the state of tne market and making reserves low we effected a clearance. Breeding ewes (medium and poor) 9s 3d to lis, forward empty ewes lis 3d to 128, wethers 14s to 15a 6d, medium woolly lambs 10s, shorn 9s to lis. downs 7s to 8s 6d, store bul- \ locks to £5, 2-year steers 50s, 18montbs 38s, dairy heifers bOs to ( 50a. fat heifers 80s, springers 665, weaner pigs 5s to 7s, aged oart mare £l2.
