OBITUARY. CANON CARLISLE. Received April 24. 10.30 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 24. Canon Carlisle is dead, aged 67 years. CAPTAIN DUMARESQ. HOBART, April 24. The death is announced of Captain Edward Dumaresq, aged 101 years. The deoeased was Surveyor-General in 1828. (Captain Dumaresq was probably the oldest Magistrate in the British Empire, as be was appointed to the Commission of Peace oa July 12th, 1828. Deceased was originally in fcne Bombay army.) SYDNEY, April 24. A man named .Joyoe died at Monaro, aged 102 years. THE KING STREETjBETTIN G RAID. Received April 24, 9.46 p.m. SYDNEY, April 24. Ten of the men arrested in the King Street betting raid have been fined £5 each. , THE WAiKARE'S MAIL. COMPLAINT BY MERCHANTS. Received April 25, 12.8 a.m. . SYDNEY, April 24. Merchants complain'that the Waikare's mail was not delivered in Sydney till to-day. The delay was caused through Mebourne, yesterday, observing a holiday in connection with, the Eight Hours Day celebrations.
