CRICKET.
Both the Sydney Mail and tho Sydney Referee, say that Armstrong had no right to claim the drawing of stumps five minutes before time on the last' day of tbe Otago-Mel-bourne match. Tbe latter paper, to which the point was referred, says:—"Tbe custom in Australian cricket is to draw stumps when a wicket falls within five minutes of time but on the last day of a match this never applies, unless, of course, there is no possibility of victory to either side. In the match at Otago the laws of cricket, as well as of custom in this part of Australia, were ignored. The stumps should not have beon drawn unless a wicket fell within two minutes of time." It will be recollected that stumps were drawn six minutes before six o'clock.
