NORTHERN NIGERIA.
THE PUNITIVE EXPEDITION. Received April 6, 8,27 a.m. LONDON, Anril 5. Id the House of Commons Mr Winston Ohurohill, Under-Seoretary for the Colonies, denied that the Imperial Government had stopped an expedition against the Munshis. Sir F. Lagard, High Commissioner, had, said Mr Ohurohill, reported that the punitive expedition bad been completely successful, and the Government had stopped a more expensive expedition against the Munshis, whiob had been in complete readiness for despatch but was now unnecessary. A REBEL LEADER EXECUTED. Received April 6, 8,46 a,m. LONDON,- April 5. The Sultan of Sokoto, West Africa, tried and executed a rebel leader named Maafo. The latter boaated that he had killed two French officers.
