The action of Mr Bryce, Chief Secretary for Ireland, in re-appoint- I ing nineteen Assistant Land Commissioners out of twenty-seven, has incensed the Nationalists and disappointed the Irish party. Three posts are still vacant.
THE EDUCATION BILL. Received April G, 8.27 a.m. LONDON, April 5. The Government's Education Bill will be introduced on Monday. DOUBLE INCOME-TAX. Received April 6, 8.27 a.m. LONDON, April 5. Mr R. Laidlaw, Lkberal member for East Renfrewshire, has given notice to move that Mr Asquith, Chancellor of the Exchequer, in framing his Budget, shall grant a substantial rebate on incomes which residents in the United Kingdom derived from trade and commerce with British colonies and dependencies, when the incomes have already paid the tax in the country of their origin. TEMPERANCE REFORM. TO BE DEALT WITH THOROUGHLY NEXT SESSION. Received April 7, 12.4 a.m. LONDON, April 6. Sir Henry Campbeil-Bannerman assured a deputation that Temperance reform would be dealt with thoroughly during the next session.
