HOSPITAL FLORAL FETE.
A meeting of the General Committee of tbe Hospital Floral Fete was held last evening. The Mayor (Mr J. A. Renal!) presided and there were also present— Messrs A. W/Hogg, M.H.R., A. O. Levien, P. Hider, A. E. Green and Meadamea Tait, Hogg, Edwards and Miss Hogg. A report was read from the Executive Committee wherein it was stated that the balance-sheet showed a ere dit balance of £239 12s 8d but there wero yet a few promised subesription to come in, and a number of pictures, etc.. to be disposed of before a final balance-sheet could be submitted., In addition to the sum mentioned, £487 15s 9d in subscriptions to the Building Fund had been received by the Treasurer, Mr J. C. Boddiugtou. That made a total of £727 8s 5d in aid of the Building Fund, and that, with tbe subsidy, represented the substantial sum of £1,600. The report concluded by exrressIn thanks to the ladies who canvassed so successfully, the stall holders, and the various committees, in particular Messrs D. A. Morton, R. V. Hoaking, A. 0. Levien, W. W. Chambers, D. Pfobson, R. Brown and tbe Mayor, for the kindly help they had rendered 1 in the movement. The Mayor stated that he was exceedingly gratified at the manner in whioh the citizens bad met him in the project, and in tbe success their efforts had been. There was yet wanted a sum of £2OO and it would be for tbe General Committee to authorise tbe Executive Committee to take the necesaary steps to obtain that amouur. Mr Green becouded the motion, which was carried. Ou the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Mr Levien, the Executive Committee were given power to take any such steps as they thought fit in order to* raise the balance of the money required, about £2OO. Mr" Easthope (secretary) stated that there were still a number of pictures, a doll's house, and about B>>< dozen Chinese lanterns, whicn bethought might be converted in to oash. Mr Levien had undertaken to take over the pictures, and Miss.Gilespie the doll's house, and endearour to dispose of them by means of an art union.
