BUT RE-FLOATS WITH THE TIDE.

NELSON, March 27. The Anchor Line steamer Alexander ran ashore on the Picton side of the French Pass about 4 o'clook this morning, and remained aground for some hours,but floated unaided when the tide rose, and oame on to Nelson. A passing squall obscured the land before she, struck, but the captain, then, seeing land ahead, reversed the engines, and she ran up a soft papa rook. Going very aently, she sustained no damage, as was proved by examination.
