THE PALMERSTON SENSATION.
PALMERSTON N.. March 23. It transpires that Mrs Harris, who fatally shot P. Murfltt on Wednesday evening, attempted to commit suicide at the same time by swallowing the contents of a bottle of liniment supplied to her for the ailment from which she was suffering. The liniment preparation consisted of opium and lead, but was not sufßoiently strong to have the anticipated effect.
