TRUST LANDS TRUST.
MONTHLY MEETING. The nonthly meeting of tbe Trust Lands Trust was held last evening. There were present—Messrs C. E. Daniell (ohairman), T. Wagg, T. B. Miohell, E. Feist, and J. A. Renall. The Treasurer reported as follows —Dr. balance as per bank book, £473 9s Id; or. balance at deposit in bank, £798 0s sd. A letter was reoeived from the Masterton School Committee informing the Trustees that the subcommittees appointed in connection with the organisation of Agricultural; classes at the District High School would meet at the Borough Council Chambers at 3 p.m. on Monday. Messrs P. L. Hollings and H. T. Wood waited on the meeting, on behalf of the executors of the Carey's Estate, and asked for a reduction in the ground reutal of the estate. The present rental £56 2s, was unduly harsh, and tbe executors had to •bid for the property at that amount to save the improvements effected on the estate. They thought that £35 per annum ground rental was quite a sufficient amount. After the deputation withdrew, the matter was discussed, aud it was decided to charge £4O per annum giound rental for the first ten years, of the lease, and £56 2s for the remainder of the time. The Rev. Dean McKenna waited on the meeting in support of a letter and asked the Trustees to make him a special grant of £25 in support of St. Patrick's Sohool. Recently there had been £199 spent on tbe building and furnishing, and the faot of last year's grant to the sohool being cut down by one-half made the funds short. The Chairman promised that the matter would be dealt with after the end of the present fiuanoial year, and that ifc would receive its due consideration. The Secretary was authorised to expend the neoessary money to obtain new pulleys and rope for holding the lights over the stage in the Town Hall; also to arrange about obtaining fifty extra seats for the ball. Accounts amounting to £l6 14's 9d were passed for payment.
