THE WESTPHALIAN RESPIRATORY APPARATUS. Received March 14, 8.48 a.m. PARIS, March 13. The Westphalian respiratory apparatus revived ore hundred men who were apparently dead. A RELIEF FUND STARTED IN AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, March 13. On hearing of the mining disaster at Courrieres several rosidents of this city forwarded to the French Consul for New Zealand contributions for the relief of the families of victims. A list of donations will be published, and any further contributions towards the fund will be gratefully received at the Consulate for transmission to Paris.

"DOWN WITH CAPITALISTS AND MURDERERS." A GENERAL STRIKE. Received Maroh 14, 10.45 p.m. PARIS, Maroh 14. The Socialists, at Courrieres, after the funeral of the viotims of the colliery disaster, made violent speeches denouncing the mine owners, amid cries of "Down with the capitalists and murderers." A full investigation is urged in connection with the disaster. The ex'oitmeut is increasing and the men nave struck for a ten per cent, increase in wages. A strike is spreading in other districts.
