WAIRARAPA SCHOOL COMMITTEES ASSOCIATION.

*_ —— PRELIMINARY STEPS. A. meeting of delegates from the various School Committees, in the Wairarapa, was held in the Oounoil Chambers, Masterton, yesterday afternoon, for the purpose of forming a Wairarapa School Committees Association. The delegates present were:—Messrs R. Brown (Masterton). W. Jesson '.Maurioeville West), F. Morris (Hukanui), F. Court (Wainakiki), G. Cobb (Martinborough), Rev. J. Sykes (Tinui). Rev. B H. Ginger (Greytowni, aud Chesham (Te Whiti). Mr R. Brown was voted to the chair, and explained why the meeting had been called. On the motion of Mr Cobb, seconded by Rev. Ginger, it was decided to form a Sohool Committees Association in the Wairarapa. Mr Jesson stated that his Committee was not in favour of the Association being formed, but personally he favoured the project and was pre pared to give it any assistance. Mr Court asked how the tees would be levied on the Committees in connection with the Association. The question of fees was of the greatest importance to the smaller Committees. The Chairman stated that he believed the fees would be levied on a sliding scale; and he did not think that the matter of expenditure would press heavily on the smaller Committees. Mr Cobb's motion was then put to the meeting and carried unanimously. On the motion of the Rev. Ginger, seconded by Mr Court, Messrs Brown. Cobb, Morris, and Revs. Sykes and Ginger, were appointed a sub-committee to draft a set of rules for the working of the Association, and report to the next general meeting. Mr Brown was appointed convenor of that committee. Various suggestions were made regarding the rules to be drafted, one being the method of representation on the Association and another that the meetings of the Association be not confined to the one' oentre. The meeting then adjourned until April 4th, at 11 a.m.
