UPPER OPAKI STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd , report at the Opaki sale, yesterday, a very heavy yarding of sheen. With few exceptions the stock was of second rate quality. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd, held their annual sale at Mr T. Wyeth's yards, at Upner Opaki, yesterday (Tuesday), when about 5,000 sheep, besides cattle, came forward. The attendance of buyers was large, and competition for all good lines was keen. Several lines failed to reach owners' values under the hammer, but with three exceptions, all lots of sheep changed hands before leaving the yards. We offered several pens of cattle, but only two lines were sold. Taken altogether, the sale was a deoided success, and the firm's best thanks are due to Mr T.Wyeth and other settlers, for their Valuable assistance throughout the day. Prioes for forward 2-tooth wethers ranged from 14s 4d to 15s, others to 13s Id, best breeding ewes 13s lOd to 15s Id, medium 10s lOd to 13s 6.1, others to 9s 4d, for ward shorn lambs 8s lid to 9s lOd, good store lambs to 8s Id, good woolly lambs 10s 6d, rams to l%gn, calves 12s, cow and calf £3.
