NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALLERS^ WELCOME TO SOUTHERN MEMBERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Maroh 9. The Wellington and South Island members of the New Zealand football team were welcomed back to- ~ night by the Mayor. It was proposed .to hold a reception in the small concert room at the Town Hall, but this room was far too small to aocommodate all who sought admission, and an adjournment was made to the large main hall. In tliis two thousand people gathered, and gave the players a veiy hearty weloome. Speeches of congratulation were given by the Mayor, Hon. W. Hall-Jones and others. Mr W. S. Stead, ViceCaptain, responded on behalf of * the team. The Southerners went south by the Mararoa this evening.
