TONGA.
A ROaD dispute. ""] THE KING AND THE CONSULATE. AUCKLAND, February 22. The road, which is the cause of dispute in Tonga, is the main road which fronts the King's grounds and leads to the British Consulate. There are on the road two gates, which the King has occasionally closed necessitating the circuit of his ([grounds, about tea or fifteen minutes walk. A Tonga merchant here, however, states that the dispute concerns a proposal to take the road through the King's country grounds, ttyree-quartera of a mile from Nukualofa. The opinion ia expressed that if this is insisted ou it will lead to bloodshed, and the opinion is further expressed hero that with a change in the Imperial Government the position of affairs in Tonga may be reconsidered.
