Otago won the tos9, and sent the visitors to the wickets. Kaiue, Hamilton and Poole were the only batsmen to get intu double figures. The rest of the team made only a poor stand against tho capital bowling of Torrauco and the tricky trundling of Graham. Otago responded with 15d, their innings lasting nearly two and a half hours. Graham was responsible for 58 and Wilson for 58. O'Halloran took four wickets for 70 runs, and Doig six wickets for 94. In their second innings Southland has put on 62 for the loss of three wickets, Crockett scoring 11, Hamilton 30, Kaine (not oat) 19. roii,
