MR MOORE'S ALLEGATION.

THE PREMIER'S REPLF. CHRISTCHUROH, February 16. In reference to the allegation made by Mr R. Moore, at Rangiora, reoently, that certain men on the Waipara-Cbeviot railway works were, for election purpose?, promised and paid an. extra shilling a day before the|eleotioQ, which was withdrawn afterwards, the Premier telegraphed to Mr Moore to-day that the statemeat and inference are untrue, and abase fabrication, and the mptter will not be allowed to remain where it is. MrSeddon asks Mr Moore to 'furnish him with certain particulars, failing which, he says, it will be his duty to speak in no uncertain manner in respect to the unfair attack made. Mr Moore replies that from evidence forthcoming he was well supported in his Rangiora statement, and quite justified by further corro- , boratiou in making it. Mr Moore forwards to the Press a oopy of the statutory declaration made • before the Mayor of Kaiapoi by-one uf the workmen, who declares that a shilline a day for camping oat was paid to men shortly before the election and discontinued shortly after, although no change as regards camping out had taken place. The name of the deponent is omitted. Mr Moore stating that for good reasons he has considered it advisable not to publish any of the workmen's names.
