HOSPITAL FLORAL FETE.
MEETING OF LADIES' COMMITTEE.
A meetiuK of the Ladies' Committee of the Hospital Floral Fete and Garden Party -vas held, yesterday afternoon, at the Council Chambers. About 20 ladies were present, and, also, Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R. The ladies reported much success in the canvass being made. All classes are responding readily both with cash and produce to furnish the stalls. ' A letter was received from the Agricultural and Pastoral Society, declining to give permission to the ladies to canvass in aid of the funds on the Showgrounds, and suggesting instead that boxes should be put up in places to be pointed out. Much surprise was expressed at this reply, as the suggestion to take up a collection on the Showgrounds was made to the Committee by prominent mflmbers of the A. and P. Society. After discussion it was resolved not to take advantage of the permission to put up hospital boxes, but that the ladies make a canvass on Show Day outside the gates. - It was decided to ballot the stalls as follows: —Produce stall, Mrs A. W. Cave and Mrs P. Taylor; lollies and fruit stall, Mrs Montgomery and Mrs Kayner; hospital stall. Miss . Petremont and Nurses; .Refreshment stall, No 1, Mrs A. W. Hogg and Mrs Russell; No 2, Mrs J. Day and Mrs Jtiidar; art union and jumble stall, ladies to he selected ; cake stall, Mieci Hill and Mrs Seilar; bran tub. Miss Hogg. Mrs Kendall agreed to arrange an number of children's fancy dances and tableaux. The meeting then adjourned.
