CITY OF LONDON SEAT. A FREETRADE CANDIDATE. ALLEGED TREATING. ' Received February 12, 8.43 a.m. LONDON, February 11. Mr Masoo, the Freetrade candidate. who has offered himself as a candidate for the City of London seat in opposition to Mr A, J. Bal four, will go to the poll with or without the oiipport of the Liberal Association. The Association has bean awaiting Mr Balfour's election address before • deciding the question of contesting the seat. A petition has been lodged against Ml- A. Fell, who was returned in the Conservative interest for Great Yarmouth. The petition alleges bribery and treating. THE NATIONALIST ATTITUDE. Received February 12, 10.23 p.m. LONDON, February 12. The Nationalist Party, on the re--election of Mr Redmond, resolved that it was unable to enter into an alliance or permanently support any party or Government not making the national self-government of Ireland a cardinal point. LABOUR MEMBERS. THEIR SALARIES A BURDEN. Received February 12, 10.23 p.m. LONDON, Februay 12. The Labour Representation Committee's report deolares that the election of 29 of its candidates necessitates the doubling of the affiliated societies' subscriptions. The burden ought not to be imposed at all, as the party is doing national work, and ought to be paid out of the national funds. EDUCATION BILL. Received February 12, 10.23 p.m. LONDON, February 12. Mr Birrell, speaking ut Halifax, in referring to the Education Bill, said he trusted well-nourished children would be dealt with in a generoqs spirit.
