PREPARING AGAINST THE STRIKE.
Received February 9, 8.45 a.m. NEW YORK, February 8. The anthracite and bituminous coal companes in America are storing immense stocks in preparation for the threatened strikes. The anthraoite companies expect to store 28,000,000 tons, which, it is calculated, will &e sufficient for half a year's campaign.
HEPBURN RATE BILL.
Received February 10, 12.7 a.m NEW YORK, February 9.
The Amerioan.House of Repesentatives, by 346 votes to seven, passed tne Hepburn Railroad Rate Bill, empowering the Interstate, Commerce Commission to fix a just maximum rate for a period of three years, unless set aside by the courts or a Commission.
